How it counts
Your phone has a chip that counts steps around the clock, whether any app is open or not. Pedometer reads that number and shows it.
So it uses no battery beyond the screen. So it counts while the app is closed, and carries on after a restart. And while the app is open, the number moves with every step you take.

Calories, if you want them
Tap Want to see calories? and answer three questions: weight, height and sex. Weight is the only one that really moves the number. Height turns steps into distance. Sex you can skip.
We do not ask for your age. It is only needed to guess what you burn on the sofa, and we never show that number. You see what the steps gave – about 250 kcal for 10,000 steps if you weigh 70 kg – and where the figure comes from.
Your week, without points
Seven bars, one per day. Yesterday next to today. A goal if you set one. No points, no friends to beat, no confetti at ten thousand.
The screen can stay on while you walk, if you choose. It is the only thing in the app that uses battery, which is why it is your choice.
